Our Story

“Woodworking minus patience equals firewood.”

Hi there, I'm Mike Cammann—Welcome to my corner of the internet!

I'm based in Eugene, Oregon, and I created Retired Woodcrafts as a way to feature my woodworking projects. Forty years ago, I started woodworking with my grandfather in The Dalles, Oregon. Working in his garage with him at 20 years old, I learned the basics, and the art of wood turning. Creating turned bowls, Christmas ornaments, and other knick-knacks brought out a creative side of me that I hadn't experienced before.

Over the years, woodworking evolved into many different things for me. In the 90's, raising a young family with my wife, Tina, I focused on building gifts and remodeling my own kitchen as a stress-relieving hobby while working a demanding sales job. Now that I'm retired, woodworking is a way for me to pass the time and explore different techniques.

When I'm not in my garage, I enjoy cookies, whiskey, soccer, relaxing in front of a fire, camping with my wife, and watching my golden retriever, Mazie, chase squirrels in the backyard (don't worry, she doesn't catch them). Although, I always end up back in the garage because some new idea has come to mind.

I'm excited to share my craft with you!
